Anticipating A Move of God Print E-mail
Friday, June 20, 2008

Recently my family has been through a lot. We started our church last fall, my wife's job was cut to part-time, my son was born this past December, my wife and I were expecting our second child by Feb. then we lost the baby at 3 month into her pregnancy, the church carpet was ruined from rain an water in the church, every time I go to the church to do yard work something breaks, then someone tried to steal the main entrance electrical cable from the front of the church. It seems as if there is something attempting to keep this work from taking off. But I claim the victory in Jesus name.

“What can separate us from the love of God?  ….”

“No weapon formed against me shall prosper.”

Tonight we have service. I am waiting in anticipation for the Lord to move tonight. We have not had much success in generating interest in this new church. It is 30 miles from the nearest Pentecostal/Apostolic Church. I have spoken with other churches (Baptist, Methodist, Wesleyan, etc) in the area and they have lost better than 50% of their congregations in the past few years. So there is a large group of people in need of God in this area. I am just waiting on the Lord to bring about a change in the Spiritual environment of the area.

He did not bring me this far to leave me. It has been a discouraging 6 months. But I know a God who can change the course of events in one moment of time. If He can stop the rotation of the earth for Joshua then what more would He do for His church?

I earnest seek the prayers of the faithful. But to those who do not know God, stop by and let me introduce you to a God who can change your life,  A God who is real, A God who can be touched by your afflictions.

A Typical Day Print E-mail
Monday, May 12, 2008

I have set around work and home for years experiencing the typical day. Waking up to the alarm clock, eating breakfast, heading to work, coming home, and then going to bed, only to start over again tomorrow.

Didn't Christ come to give us life more abundantly?

Where is the abundance in living a typical life?

Are we living up to the expectations set forth by Christ?

Where is His sacrifice in our lives?

Where is our sacrifice?

Where is our Christ like behavior, in an ordinary day?

Christ came to give us life and that life more abundantly. Yet we continue to live our days in much the same way as we did before we knew Christ. There is a Spiritual yearning in each of us for more than just the typical day. But where do we start? How do we find this point to break away from the status quo and live above the norm?

The devil has lulled the Christians of today into a since of contentment, an attitude of satisfaction with the normal life. We live a life as holy as we can, abstain from sin, yet where does that leave us?

The pioneers of old looked and pursued after strange new worlds, new discoveries, yet the Christians of today have settled in, taken up roots and are satisfied with what little they have.

Where is the abundant life?

I work as a medical researcher, in addition to being a pastor. Every day I look for new cures, explored new worlds of the cell. My research is constantly changing, new discoveries every day. Every new finding opens up my eyes to the majesty and deity of God.

How can man ever comprehend the fullness of an all powerful majestic God?

He spoke into existence the very world. At his command time came into existence. The very matrix of the universe was made by Him.

In all of His infinite power He made you and me, and pays attention to us, to our needs, our daily struggles, to the very hairs on our head.

Who is man that God would be mindful of us?

My Wife and I have been trying to build the church God has placed in our care. We opened the door for services about 4 months ago. We have invited people. Knocked doors, passed out fliers for services, etc. Many people have said they would come, but we are the only people attending service. We had a meeting one night with another minister, with his family and ours we had a record crowd of eight.

My wife and I have been asking ourselves why God has called us to this place.

Why did He place us here at this time?

Why did He give this building to us?

It seems like every service is just a typical day.

Everyone is so busy.

No one is interested.

People have good intentions.

But where is God?

The building needs work, the carpet needs changed, when it rains the carpet gets wet, we need a better place to park, we need and indoor restroom.

Maybe if we fixed these things it would help?

The typical mind set of a typical person, having a typical day.

What is the cure for a typical day, in a typical world?

Seek God.

There is a hunger deep in each of us for something more. Many of us have cultivated this mindset that we can get by on just what we have. We feel that if we asked for more we are being selfish. But God is waiting with open arms with blessings beyond measure simple for us to ask, to seek, to knock. But we are typical. As long as everything is tranquil and no problems are apparent we are satisfied.

There is a blessing just beyond your typical day; a new adventure, a fresh anointing, and greater blessing. But you have to take the initiative and step into the next level. Take the time make the sacrifice.

God expects nothing more from us than He was willing to do Himself.

It’s time we stop professing Christianity and Live the life of a Christian. How can the world see Christ in us if we are just a typical person living a typical life, having a typical day, acting like a typical Christian?
